Alongside working in coffee, Tamiru was also an electrical engineer and university professor. In 2020, the first Cup of Excellence competition was held in Ethiopia, and Tamiru won the 2021 competition with a beautiful, high altitude, carefully sorted natural from Alo Bensa. He has since traveled the world to grow his expertise in coffee and share his knowledge with other producers, and Alo has become an undeniable source of some of Ethiopia’s most unique and exceptional coffees.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRegalia won gold with this coffee in the 2025 Global Coffee Awards Experimental Filter category, and we’re thrilled to have it back on the menu this year. With a 72 hour anaerobic fermentation followed by sun drying in cherry, Tamiru is really pushing the boundaries of processing with this coffee, while miraculously maintaining a clean, balanced, spice-driven profile.
